Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- PTSD

PTSD- Consistent State of Protection

When we experience or witness a deeply traumatic event, the impact can ripple through our lives long after the danger has passed. A PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) diagnosis is a recognition that your brain and body are still processing a profound shock. It is a real, medical condition—not a sign of weakness—where your nervous system stays locked in survival mode, making everyday life feel incredibly unstable.

Living with PTSD can feel like walking on shifting sand. The world around you might suddenly feel unpredictable or unsafe, and unexpected reminders can instantly transport you back to the trauma. This constant state of high alert can disrupt your relationships, your peace of mind, and your sense of control over your own story.

While PTSD looks different for everyone, common symptoms include:

  • Intrusive memories: Vivid flashbacks, distressing thoughts, or intense nightmares.

  • Avoidance: Steering clear of places, people, or thoughts that trigger painful memories.

  • Hypervigilance: Feeling constantly on guard, easily startled, or irritable.

  • Mood and thought changes: Persistent feelings of fear, guilt, or emotional numbness.

If your world feels unstable right now, please give yourself grace. Your mind is simply trying to protect you from past hurts. Healing takes time, but with the right support, you can rebuild a sense of safety, quiet the echoes of the past, and find steady ground once again.
